Mission Statement
To empower the new generation to strive towards higher education, to be able to compete internationally with their contemporaries in the information age, to be perceptive and to have a personal commitment to work towards a free, democratic Burma
Aim
At MEF we believe knowledge is power. Without the basic right of education we would not have a just society. MEF aims to support disadvantaged youth from Burma and along its borders who are unable to attain further education, in the hope they will return to their communities, to contribute to efforts of development and positive change for Burma. In order to accomplish this goal, we will prepare students to take a high school equivalency test. An accredited certificate is necessary for those students who wish to attend university, as it not only provides students with the relevant skills needed for higher education, but also the certificate needed to enter university. The program also prepares them to keep up with the modern ways of life and demands of universities abroad.

Objectives
Provide education to the new generation from Burma, at an international standard, by increasing their general knowledge, promoting critical and lateral thinking, and providing awareness of world issues.
Encourage the new generation to have a personal commitment to Burma, so students will return to Burma or the border after university, in order to guide and educate their people, and continue to work for change in their communities.
Be a channel for disadvantaged youth to gain access to further education, by preparing students to take an accredited exam and helping them receive scholarships.
Promote and strive towards self-sustainability, by involving the local and international community in school activities and fundraising.
“I see myself in Burma in the future, as a teacher in a university when the situation changes and we get democracy. If it doesn’t change, I will return to the Thai-Burma border and teach in Burmese schools here.”
