Activities

|
MEF students and staff are continuously involved in diverse activities and programs, ranging from income generation to compiling the first school newspaper. Involving the students in various initiatives, keeps motivation levels high while building pride in their school and future work in their country. Students are engaged at all levels, each student being involved at varying degrees depending on their interests.
Here are some activities, events and programs the students and staff were involved in between 2007 - 2009.

Students received two week training from Miriam College in Philippines - South East Asian History, Geography and personal development in 2007; and World History and Peace Development in 2008.

Students participated in programs and events – festivals from Burma including water festival and other religious days. Participation in these events and programs are organized so students can respect their ethnic group’s traditions and to continue to promote their understanding of their culture.

School picnics; music nights; sports competitions and quiz nights are organized on a regular basis.
|
|
Burmese academics, politicians and leaders from local organizations are continuously invited to the school, to educate and discuss the country’s issues with the students, in order to make them more aware, to keep them up to date and demonstrate how they can eventually help their people.

|
Cultural exchange with a Korean school, Ewoo for four days in 2008 and 2009. Students from both schools participated in school presentations, political discussions, dinners prepared by students and a talent night.

Established and maintains a student body, which consists of a student president and vice-president.
|
|
Workshops and trainings were given on migrant rights, conflict resolution, reproductive health, and human rights.
|
|
Workshops in dance, acro-balance and other circus activities were conducted in 2007 to 2009.

|
An art exhibition dedicated to the victims of cyclone Nargis, was held at school, which displayed student’s artwork from MEF, CDC, New Blood and Has Thoo Lei.
|
|
Students learned to make jewelry and held a fundraising sale. Profits were used to purchase necessities at school such as blankets and mosquito nets. This happens on an ongoing basis.
